The race for perfecting AI is on and Amazon has just jumped into the mix with Alexa+ new AI Assistant. This new feature by Amazon will be first launched in early access for Echo Show 8, 10, 15 and 21. For Prime Members, you will be able to enjoy this new feature completely free. However, if you don’t have Prime you can still purchase it for $19.99 a month… Which ends up costing more then Prime. Let’s take a look at what exactly Alexa+ will bring to the table.

Ease to talk with Alexa+

For the longest time voice assistants such as Alexa and Google have struggled to understand in depth questions and topics. Well, it looks like Amazon is looking to change that. You can now ask more in depth questions, Explore in depth ideas and have a friendly conversation with the assistant. Creating a more human to human feel…. Yes I think this almost seems weird.

Turning Talk Into Action with Alexa+

Amazon has introduced something called “expert” These are groups of Systems, capabilities, API’s and instructions that can help accomplish Specific types of tasks for users in a quick manner. One interesting example Amazon gives is the ability to call repair experts for you and even book the appointment. If you need a fridge repair, you can ask Alexa to find, evaluate and book the repair for you. This will be done completely behind the scenes with no need for you to babysit. My biggest worry here would be not properly vetting the service. With so many bad contractors and services this could end up being a bit of a gong show. Apart from this, Alexa+ will be able to control your smart home from products across a number of brands such as Philips, Roborock and more. Other features include playing music from a number of services, ordering groceries and booking reservations.

Creepy New “Alexa is Everywhere Feature”

I know Amazon didn’t mean for this to sound creepy… but it just does. With Alexa already being available in most work spaces and home space you are in… Amazon is expanding this with Alexa+ mobile app. This will be available for both Android and ios. Connected through your account and all your devices you can pick up a conversation you had previously left off with Alexa. Continue to perform important tasks and even control your devices on the go.

Always thinking of you…

Alexa+ Will be active in the background and always thinking of how it can help you. One example Amazon mentions is suggesting you leave early for work if there is heavy traffic. Personally, I would rather run into the heavy traffic and use it as an excuse to be late. With that being said I can see quite a few uses for this that may come in handy.
