Earlier this year Amazon added the ability to use a virtual keyboard linked to your smart phone. This allows you to quickly search without installing the dedicated Fire TV app. However many users started to point out how the QR code would remain the same for a period of time, allowing bad actors to potentially control your device. Although this exploit could only work in very specific conditions, it was still a big enough security concern for Amazon to remove.

Now when you enter a keyboard screen, you will see the QR code appear on the top right corner again. Like before scanning this code with your phones camera will bring you to a web page. However, to avoid the issue from before, Amazon has added an authentication screen.

You now have to confirm the code on your phone before continuing. You now have to click ok on your fire tv device and your phone before continuing. This extra level of security gets rid of the previous exploit.
