Amazon Prime Major Price Increase Coming To Canada 2022
Amazon has become one of the worlds biggest corporations. Their Prime Membership offers free delivery one almost any item, including same-day delivery in some cases. Users also have access to the growing library of prime video content which includes recently acquired MGM content. However even with Amazon projecting revenues of over 500 Billion in 2022, Amazon Prime has announced a first time price increase in Canada.
Amazon Price Increase In The United States
recently we discussed the price increase of Prime in the US which saw both the monthly and yearly go up. The yearly price went up from $119 to $139 and the monthly went from $12.99 to $14.99 per month. Amazon Attributed this Price increase to the continued investment of the program. Amazon Prime video is starring down the barrel of their biggest investment. The Lord of The Rings tv series is estimated to cost the streaming platform nearly One Billion dollars. Despite Amazon’s reasoning the corporation is extremely profitable and continues to be well known for their lack of employee care. Last week we also discussed further greed of fellow streaming company Netflix, testing out password locks for households.
Canada’s First Price Increase Coming
Unlike the United States, Canada had yet to see an increase to the Prime program. The pricing has remained the same at $79 for a year and $7.99 per month. Starting May, users can expect a $20 Increase to $99.99 for a year and a monthly increase of $1.99 for a total of $9.99 per month. As you can see Canada’s price is already relatively lower than that of the United States. This could be logistical challenges between the US and Canada.
No matter what the reason is Amazon has seen record profits in 2021 with no signs of slowing down. Companies continue to raise prices despite paying their workers a fair wage.
