Early this year we saw rumours that Freevee TV may be shutting down later in 2024. Prime Video has started to show Freevee content and allow it to play directly through the app. Now that Prime Video also has integrated ads in their content, this change me more sense. However according to Amazon representees “There are no changes to Freevee”.

Amazon Changes Live Channels For Freevee to Prime Video

Freevee TV has a number of live channels that can be enjoyed through the app. One of the Fire OS best features is the live tv section. This allows you to consolidate live channels from all your apps into one interface. Typically you would see a Freevee TV option, however it seems like Amazon has rebranded that option into Prime Video.

To check if this change has set in effect for you yet head to Live TV > Guide > Settings button on remote (3 Horizontal lines) > Manage channels. Here you can see all the groupings for channels you currently have.

Consolidating these apps together does make sense to an extent, and for Amazon it gets free viewers closer to points of purchase for rentals and prime video subscriptions.
