Discovery+ is the streaming home for unscripted TV — home renovation, cooking, true crime, and nature documentaries from networks like HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, and Magnolia Network. It has increasingly been folded into Warner Bros. Discovery’s combined Max app, but the standalone Discovery+ service and app are still available for viewers who only want the lifestyle and reality lineup.

What Is Discovery+?

Discovery+ is Warner Bros. Discovery’s reality-and-lifestyle streaming service. Instead of scripted dramas or blockbuster movies, its entire library is built around renovation shows, competitive cooking, true crime series, and nature documentaries, plus a growing slate of Discovery+ original spinoffs of its most popular network shows.

Discovery+ Plans & Pricing

Discovery+ keeps pricing simple with two standalone tiers, plus the option to add it as a channel through another platform:

Discovery+: Channels & Content

The lineup leans heavily on fan-favorite unscripted franchises: house-flipping and renovation shows from HGTV, cooking competitions from Food Network, docu-series from TLC (including 90 Day Fiancé spinoffs), true crime from Investigation Discovery, wildlife and survival content from Animal Planet and Discovery Channel, and prestige unscripted originals from Magnolia Network. There is little to no scripted drama or blockbuster movie content — for that, Warner Bros. Discovery pushes viewers toward the combined Max app.

Where Is Discovery+ Available?

Discovery+ is primarily built for U.S. subscribers, with a separate, more limited version of the service operating in a handful of other countries. Content libraries and pricing vary by region, and some shows are geo-restricted to their home market due to licensing.

How to Watch Discovery+ Outside the United States

If you travel outside the U.S. and try to open Discovery+, you’ll often be blocked or handed a smaller regional catalog. A VPN that connects you back through a U.S. server solves this by making your connection appear local again.

• Sign up for IPVanish using our discounted IPVanish link and install the app on your device.
• Open the IPVanish app and connect to a server located in the United States.
• Once connected, open your Discovery+ app or website and log in (or sign up) as normal.
• Start streaming — IPVanish keeps your connection routed through the United States so Discovery+ unlocks its full catalog.

Is Discovery+ Worth It?

Discovery+ is an easy, affordable add for fans of renovation shows, competitive cooking, true crime, or nature documentaries — but it’s a poor fit if you’re looking for scripted series or big movies, where a broader service will serve you better. Households already considering Max may find that bundle a smarter way to get Discovery+’s content alongside HBO’s scripted lineup.
