How to Change the Language and Region Settings on Firestick
Whether you picked the wrong language during setup or you’re helping a family member whose Firestick defaulted to the wrong one, changing the system language and region only takes a minute.
How to Change the System Language
- Go to Settings, then Preferences, then Language.
- Select your preferred language from the list.
- The interface updates immediately — no restart required.
What Region Settings Control
Your Firestick’s region is generally tied to the Amazon marketplace your account is registered with (such as amazon.com or amazon.co.uk) rather than a setting you toggle directly on the device. This determines which apps appear in your Appstore, regional pricing, and which streaming catalogs are available in certain apps. If you need a different regional catalog, that’s controlled through the individual streaming app’s own settings, or by using a VPN to change your apparent location.
If the Menus Are in a Language You Don’t Understand
The Language setting is always in the same place in the menu structure regardless of which language is currently selected, so you can navigate there by icon and position alone: it’s the second item from the top under Settings, then Preferences, on most Fire OS versions.
