Because the outer shell often looks similar across generations, the Settings menu is still the most accurate way to confirm exactly which model and generation you have.

  • Higher-end models generally support faster Wi-Fi standards, which matters if you stream a lot of 4K content.
  • Not every model supports Dolby Vision or the same range of picture and audio formats.
  • Storage and RAM vary by model, which affects how many apps you can install and how smoothly the device runs multiple apps.
  • Remote features differ too — some include a power and volume button for your TV, while older or lower-tier remotes don’t.
