Your Firestick’s home screen and screensaver are fully customizable, from how long it takes before the screensaver kicks in to which recommendation rows show up when you turn it on.

Changing the Screensaver

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings, then Display & Sounds.
  2. Select Screensaver.
  3. Select Screensaver Wait Time to set how long your Firestick sits idle before it activates, from 2 minutes up to never.
  4. Select Screensaver Type to switch between options like Amazon Photos or Artwork, depending on what’s available on your device.

Turning Off Personalized Recommendation Rows

If you’d rather see fewer suggested titles and more of your own content on the home screen, you can adjust what Amazon surfaces.

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings, then Preferences.
  2. Select Featured Content, then turn off Personalize Your Featured Content to reduce Amazon’s promoted recommendations near the top of the screen.
  3. Turn off Watch History Based Recommendations in the same menu if you’d rather your recently watched titles not influence future suggestions.

Adjusting the Home Screen Theme

Some Firestick models let you switch between a light and dark home screen theme.

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings, then Display & Sounds.
  2. Select Theme, if it’s available on your device and software version.
  3. Choose between Light and Dark to change the overall look of your home screen menus.

None of these settings affect your Firestick’s performance, so feel free to experiment until the home screen looks and feels the way you want it.
