How to Turn Your Firestick Into a Photo Frame With Amazon Photos
When your Firestick isn’t streaming anything, it can display a rotating slideshow of your own pictures instead of a generic screensaver. It’s a nice way to put a TV in a living room or kitchen to use, and it only takes a few minutes to set up through the Amazon Photos app.
Set Up Amazon Photos as Your Screensaver
- From the home screen, go to Settings, then Display & Sounds, then Screensaver.
- Select Choose Photos, then sign in to Amazon Photos if you haven’t already (it’s free with any Amazon account and comes with 5GB of storage).
- Pick which albums or all photos you want included in the rotation.
- Back out to the main Screensaver menu and set Start Time to however long you want the TV idle before it kicks in.
Getting Your Photos Onto Amazon Photos
If your pictures live on your phone, install the Amazon Photos app and turn on auto-save so new photos upload automatically. You can also drag and drop photos into Amazon Photos from a computer at amazon.com/photos. Only photos that have finished uploading will show up as an option on your Firestick.
Customize the Display
- Turn on Show Clock to overlay the time on your photos.
- Enable Shuffle Photos so the order changes each time.
- Use Art Mode-style cropping options if you want portrait photos centered rather than stretched.
Once it’s set up, your Firestick will automatically switch into the photo slideshow after the idle timer runs out, and pressing any remote button brings you right back to what you were doing.
