Kore is the official companion remote app for Kodi, built by the XBMC Foundation. Instead of clicking through Kodi’s menus with a standard remote, Kore lets you search, browse, and control playback from your phone over your home Wi-Fi network.

Who Can Use Kore?

Kore is for anyone already running Kodi on a Firestick or Android TV box who wants a faster way to type search queries, browse artwork-heavy menus, and control playback without pointing a remote at the screen for every click. It requires Kodi to already be installed and running on the same network.

Kore on Firestick

1. Kore is a phone app, so on your Fire TV, first make sure Kodi is installed and open at least once so it’s running on your network.

2. In Kodi, go to Settings → Services → Control and make sure Allow remote control via HTTP is turned on.

3. On your phone, install Kore from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

4. Open Kore — it should automatically detect Kodi on your network (both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi).

5. If it isn’t found automatically, add it manually using your Fire TV’s local IP address.

Install Kore on Android TV Devices

1. Make sure Kodi is installed and running on your Android TV device, with remote control via HTTP enabled in its settings.

2. On your phone, install Kore from the Google Play Store.

3. Open Kore and let it auto-detect Kodi on your local network, or add it manually with the device’s IP address.

4. Use Kore’s search, browse, and playback controls in place of your regular remote.

Key Features

— Full keyboard search — much faster than typing with directional arrows.

— Browse your Kodi library with cover art and descriptions on your phone screen.

— Full playback control: play, pause, seek, subtitles, and audio tracks.

— Free and maintained directly by the team behind Kodi itself.

If Kodi is already part of your setup, Kore is one of the easiest quality-of-life additions you can make — it turns the slowest part of using Kodi, typing and navigating menus, into something you can do from your phone in seconds.
