The Nvidia shield tv hasn’t had a firmware update since June of 2023. This has led to a lot of speculation that Nvidia will be releasing a newer version of the Nvidia Shield. However, we have now received our first official firmware update in years, brining the shield experience to 9.2. These are the changes that you need to know with the new Nvidia Shield experience 9.2.
Auro 3D Compatibility
This will give the Nvidia Shield Auro 3D full compatibility through HDMI. Essentially this is a unique audio experience which delivers a natural 3D Audio. The unfortunate part is you need a Auro 3D decoder which will run you over $1000 to purchase. This will benefit a very small group of users.
Other Major Improvements in Shield Experience 9.2
There are a number of small updates that users have been waiting for. An HDMI 1.4 flag was an issue that kept appearing over the last few years. However this can now be solved after update 9.2 by performing a factory reset. For all the French speaking users out there, you can now access parental controls in your native language. There are now extra security enhancements for 4K DRM playback. This one isn’t a benefit for anyone except content owners who don’t want their content recorded or shared.
Besides these there are a ton of other little bug fixes Nvidia has includes
- Fixed Google signing flow stuck in a loop
- Fixed stutters in Bose and Sony headsets while connected to 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi
