X Will Launch Dedicated Video App For Fire TV Devices – Competing with YouTube
X (Formally Twitter) has made a lot of changes since acquired by Elon Musk in 2022. A lot of money has been thrown around to transform X into a all in one application. A one stop shop where users can do a little bit of everything that other apps offer. Notably, there has been a push to turn X into a dedicated Video app.
X Launching a Dedicated App
It looks like X will be launching a dedicated app for Samsung TV and Fire TV devices. This should include Firesticks, Fire tv cubes and any TV with Fire OS. This is a big switch up for X, the company which is most known for their small boxes of tweets, usually isn’t a go to social media video platform. Personally, I watch videos on Facebook or Instagram before going to X. This quote tweet by Elon Musk all but confirms this news.
If you have ever watched a video on X.com you know that the quality and capability of their video platform is pretty low. To think X can handle the amount of traffic a video platform like YouTube which is owned by Google is laughable. However, competition is always good, if done right this could be a major bonus to streamers and video users ever.
